Wolverine
Now that working on my demo reel isn't so urgent I've taken some time to do some drawing with the only goal of making me smile. I find drawing of any kind really enjoyable and fun. Life drawing, gesture drawing to improve my eye for animation and the occasional commissioned art piece are times I always look forward too. But sometimes I like to escape through my pencil and draw whatever makes me smile.Wolverine was my favorite Xmen hands down when I was in Junior High and Highschool. I collected his comic religiously from issues in the early 70s, through the loss of his adamantium, and into the Age of Apocalypse. But due to the events that caused him to go feral and a regretable and misguided beliefe that comics were only for kids I stopped collecting. Thankfully I came to my senses although I haven't purchased an issue of Wolverine since. I miss those days.

Brain Farts: Samuel

I know some people are thinking "huh"?
Part of the reason I draw these guys is an exercise in creativity and design. I try to make each Brain Fart different from the next. Another reason is to have something to decorate the walls of the cubicle with. I don't have anything against the typical toys that decorate your average animators desk. I have those too. But these Brain Farts are something that is uniquely mine and fun. I think it adds to the creative atmosphere more than a toy you can buy at Toys R Us because it is so different and stupid.
Another explanation for the Brain Farts is they are fun to draw!

5-23-09: Black Out
The other day we had a Speakeasy production meeting at the Jolly Trolly. After a few of us stuck around and took advantage of the Speakeasy credit card left behind and did some extra drinking, eating and chatting. We eventually got a hold of the kids menu's and crayons and had some fun doing a bunch of collabrotive drawings. Later we got the bright idea to join in the Jolly Trolly's kareoke night. Being animators we had to figure out a way to take it to the next level. We went back to the studio grabbed our Muppet What Nots and performed the kareoke with the muppets. Lefty (my muppet) and the gang sang two Queen songs, Don't Stop Me Now and Bohemian Rapsody. The unexpecting patrons of the Trolly got a pretty good kick out of it. We definately got everyone's attention. People were taking pictures, laughing and starring with puzzled looks on there faces. It was a ton of fun.

4-4: Hello Mr Pukie

Guerrilla Fitness was a lot of fun. It was different seeing in real life a place I've seen on the Crossfit main page videos. Meeting pukie, for all of you unfamilar with the term means I threw up. I felt fine durring the workout but about 3 minutes after we've finished I layed down. That was a bad choice. I ended up puking about 2 minutes later. The awesome thing about puking from working out is that as soon as you throw up you back to normal. Weird experience. I've never pukied after a workout before. I think it mainly happened because the workout was tough and I didn't want to look weak infront of so many (13) crossfitters, I layed down, and my stomach was feeling little weird so I took some imodium on an empty stomach. Oh well, live and learn!
Here's the workout we did . . .
Team Angie (teams of two)
For Time:
175 Pull-Ups
175 Push-Ups
175 Sit-Ups
175 Squats
The woman I was teamed up with was tough. She and Lisa were the only women to even attempt to to the pull-ups unassisted. She tore her hand in the middle of the pull-ups and barely took notice. We split the work in half and finished 23:37ish.

I'm A Robot

In my never ending quest to conquor the world of art and make it dance like a monkey for me I've been playing around with color. I've recently purchased Colors! For my Ipod Touch and have learned some cool tricks watching other people paint. My Colors! attempts are pretty gruesome at the moment but here's something I did in photoshop. Usually when I paint in photoshop it comes out as a sterlie mess. No personality or texture to the colors. When you add that on top of my lack of understand of color . . .
I'm pretty happy with this attempt. It's a step in the right direction.
